Module One: Foundations of Technology Governance
Understand your role as a technology leader on the board and learn how to partner with your fellow board members, the leadership team and volunteers to build and run sustainable technology governance practices.
Module Two: Nonprofit Technology Fundamentals
Learn how technology is typically used and staffed in nonprofit organizations and the specific constraints and opportunities.
Module Three: Risk Management
Uncover the core risks associated with technology in the nonprofit sector and how to work your the board and leadership team to monitor and address them.
Module Four: Technology Strategy
Building on module two, learn about the typical uses and best practices for technology inside nonprofits for everything from data management, fundraising, operations, programs, and measurement. Understand how and when to facilitate these conversation on the board.
Module Five: Technology Resourcing
Learn how you can leverage your network, experience, and skills to ensure a nonprofit has the technology resources it needs to achieve its mission. Uncover opportunities from recruiting skilled volunteers, mentoring staff, supporting hiring, vendor selection and securing discounted software.
Module Six: Generative Conversations
Most nonprofits are reactive to changes in technology. Learn how to facilitate conversations as a board and with the leadership team about trends in technology to develop a proactive approach to technology so you can increase and sustain the organization's impact.
Module Seven: Sustainability
Learn how to integrate technology into the annual board cycle and ensure you have a succession plan so the organization always has the tech expertise it needs.
who should apply
Program Requirements
This program is design for technology leaders (10+ years experience) who are currently or about to start serving on a nonprofit board.
To successfully complete the program you will need:
- 7 hours for virtual courses over 3 months
- Partnership with your nonprofit CEO for 3-4 meetings to completing your assessment and presentation
- An hour allocated for a future board meeting for your presentation
