Board.Dev provides the technology governance certification for the nonprofit sector. Our program is built and delivered by leading experts in the field and it is designed to ensure you not only learn how to facilitate technical governance but can do it with confidence.
Join a cohort of fellow tech leaders who are serving on nonprofit boards for six one hour interactive online classes over three months. In each class you will cover learn about a different technology governance practice.
Over the three month program you will work with the CEO of your nonprofit to complete a comprehensive technology governance assessment of the organization.
At the end of the program you present your assessment and recommendations to your board to create a shared understanding of the risks and opportunities for the organization.

Learn how technology is typically used and staffed in nonprofit organizations and the specific constraints and opportunities.

Building on module two, learn about the typical uses and best practices for technology inside nonprofits for everything from data management, fundraising, operations, programs, and measurement. Understand how and when to facilitate these conversation on the board.
Learn how you can leverage your network, experience, and skills to ensure a nonprofit has the technology resources it needs to achieve its mission. Uncover opportunities from recruiting skilled volunteers, mentoring staff, supporting hiring, vendor selection and securing discounted software.
Most nonprofits are reactive to changes in technology. Learn how to facilitate conversations as a board and with the leadership team about trends in technology to develop a proactive approach to technology so you can increase and sustain the organization's impact.
Learn how to integrate technology into the annual board cycle and ensure you have a succession plan so the organization always has the tech expertise it needs.
Over the course of the program you will work with the CEO of your nonprofit and their team to complete an assessment of the current state of the organization's technology and practices. At the end of the program, and to receive your certification, you will present your findings and recommendations to your board. We will provide you with all the materials you need to conduct your assessment as well as a template deck for your presentation.
At the completion of the program, the members of your learning cohort will have the opportunity to join our broader community of certified leaders. The community supports each other so they can bring the right resources and information to their role on their board. They also gain access to our library of standards, tools, and best practices.
